DANA AXLE PLANT | Toledo, OH
Expanded its newly built, 100,000-square-foot building to nearly 300,000 square feet as part of the $70-million improvement.
Beginning in late 2017, Dana plans to assemble enhanced versions of its industry-recognized Dana 30 and Dana 44 axles, which will deliver increased power density and performance in a smaller package. Future axle programs and assembly lines are also possible.
It took less than 18 months for completion — an aggressive timeline for a new plant.
DMAX LTD | Dayton, OH
DMAX Ltd. features a 540,000-square-foot manufacturing facility and 44,000-square-foot administration building.
We are proud to have been the involved in the initial construction and recent expansion.
With over two million Duramax diesel engines put into operation since its launch in 2000, no other automaker has as much diesel engine development experience for meeting the demands of the heavy-duty truck customer.
DUNDEE ENGINE PLANT | Dundee, MI
The Dundee Engine Plant Tiger Shark Program shows our commitment to the customer’s lean construction and manufacturing goals and processes. In just eight weeks, Romanoff Electric completely retooled and installed new equipment within an operating engine plant. The project included process lines for assembly, head sub assembly and piston assembly at the south plant, bringing the four-year dormant facility back to life.
At the north plant the head line, block line, crank line and assembly lines were retooled and new tooling put in place. We installed upgrades to the facilities infrastructure throughout the campus using phased construction and coordination with minimal outages.
GM POWERTRAIN | Toledo, OH
The GM Toledo TS3 Productivity Improvement Project was a significant upgrade to an existing plant relocated to its current location in 1955. The Toledo facility is consistently ranked as one of its most productive transmission and powertrain plants in the United States. With the installation of a new 138-kilovolt switchyard and switch house we brought new distribution throughout an existing in-production plant. The project included over 600,000 square feet of additional building and 250,000 square feet of renovation among three different locations on the campus. New systems and utilities were required for all. A comprehensive and systematic lean approach to the construction resulted in a successful project with minimal disruptions on the plant campus.
TOLEDO NORTH ASSEMBLY BODY SHOP CHEROKEE | Toledo, OH
The TNAP body shop expansion was to enable the Jeep Cherokee to be built in Toledo again. The existing 450,000-square-foot Liberty body shop was decommissioned and the new Cherokee process was compete within 12 weeks from start to finish. The expansion was 250,000 square feet with new distribution and all systems, along with a new state-of-the-art metallurgy lab to improve quality control. This was one of the earliest “brick” type process installations which large sections of the process line, including robots and automation, were assembled off site and shipped to the facility for installation. With an incredibly tight timeline, we were able to assemble the new process and help complete the incomplete “bricks” to ensure the body shop would be able to go online for certification.
